The sun is finally out (every now and then…) and summer is just around the corner, so if you’re looking for something different to do in the coming weeks, why not throw a vintage garden party?
Let’s face it – soon everyone will be hosting customary BBQs left, right and centre. And don’t get us wrong, we all love a BBQ, but here at sunny V8 HQ we’re keeping with our current vintage spirit and so, have put together a guide to throwing the perfect vintage garden party…
1. Vintage Decorations
Of course, the first addition any vintage garden party needs is the decoration. Your vintage garden party supplies should include ditsy floral print tablecloths and fabric, floral bunting, and delicate print china wear and cake stands – these are a necessity to produce that vintage feel.
To give your set-up further complementary flourishes, dot around jars of delicate pastel flowers or hang jars with tea lights – these carry the theme further throughout the party space. And if you really want to go all out, you could even add a decorative birdcage intertwined with flowers to the main table (you’ll be surprised how vintage this looks).
2. Vintage Refreshments
Of course, you’ll want to make sure your guests are hydrated at your garden party, and a glass drinks dispenser is a fun and handy idea that will allow your guests to top up their glasses when they please. Kilner glass dispensers in particular give your set-up that all-important vintage feel.
To fill it, what could be more vintage than V8 Juice? (We have been around since 1933…) For a tangy and refreshing summer garden party drink, we recommend filling your drinks dispenser with V8 V-Fusion Passion Fruit, Mango and Carrot juice, mixed with generous handfuls of ice cubes to keep it cool.
3. Vintage Food & Nibbles
No vintage garden party is complete without accompanying food and nibbles. Tantalising elegant finger sandwiches are a good place to start, and mean you can adapt to please all manner of guests with a variety of filling.
When it comes to keeping it sweet, classic pastel cupcakes go down a treat, particularly when displayed on a pretty cake stand. However, if cupcakes aren’t your thing, why not serve generous slabs of decadent Victoria Sponge cake instead?
4. Vintage Drinks Glasses
If you’ve gone to all the effort of preparing the food and drink for your vintage party, you don’t want to let it down with presentation. Try screw top jars or milk bottles to serve your drinks in – you can also add fun paper straws to tie them all together, either in floral patterns or colourful swirls – be creative.
5. Vintage Activities
Keep your guests entertained with a few lawn games from times gone by. Croquet and ring toss are always a popular favourite, and encourage guests to drag their eyes away from their phones for a while!
For extra fun, group your guests into teams and make it into a competition, providing the winning team with a vintage-themed prize.
However you decide to design your vintage garden party set-up this summer, the most important thing of all is to have fun with it and have a spiffing time! Secondly, don’t forget to keep refreshed with V8 V-Fusion Passion Fruit, Mango & Carrot Juice, not only is it thirst-quenching in the heat, it also packs in 2 of your 5 a day!
