1. Buy a planner for the month
Buying yourself a big, clear planner specifically for December can make such a difference. This allows you a clear overview of the upcoming month and all the things that are scheduled in. All party invitations and social events can go in here. This means you can plan ahead for purchasing gifts or maybe making food to take along for the table. In turn, this prevents a last-minute panic on the day of the event, and stops you from missing anything in the rush.

2. Traditions are special, but things do change
As each year passes, the kids are growing up and changing. Remember that things don’t have to be done in exactly the same way each year. Things you may have done when the kids were little are no longer relevant, and new things will come along. Although it’s nice to have continuity each year, you really don’t have to go to that party you hate going to. Try to remember what is important and what you need to make time for.

3. Keep your holiday wrapping neat and tidy
Christmas wrapping is a mission. You have to think of paper, tags, bows, ribbon, matching bottle bags – the list goes on! This year, get yourself a crate to put everything into. The chances are that you’ll have some left-over paper and gift tags, so keep hold of these ready for next year! No-one will remember what paper you used this year anyway. Keep some elastics bands in the crate too, to put around the rolls of paper, and some sticky tape and scissors. That way, next year you will have everything you need in one place.
Top tip: If you wrap presents early, make sure you label them clearly so you know what’s inside them! -
4. Keep the medicine cabinet stocked up
It’s that time of year when everyone gets a cold, or the flu, or both! It cannot be helped considering the bad weather. But it’s good to get over these illnesses as quickly as you can so it doesn’t affect your to-do list. Having a well-stocked medicine cabinet can make sure that those remedies are close at hand when you might need them.

5. Prepare for next year
It may sound terrifying but it will help! Pack things away in an organised manner. Try putting your Christmas decorations away in labelled boxes, make a list of all the people who sent you Christmas cards this year so you don’t forget anyone next year, and get yourself a planner ready for next year.

6. Remember to have some down time!
Christmas time is wonderful, magical and hectic! It’s a time when everyone catches up with family and friends, celebrates and enjoys each other’s company. But it should also be a time for relaxing, for making time for those important ones in your life and chilling out together. Whether you have kids and they need some down time to combat their over excitement, or you don’t have any kids and you just want some time to yourself, make sure you make time this Christmas.
